What sizes of glass pickle jars are available?
We have glass pickle jars in various sizes for various food packaging applications ranging from smaller sizes to be used at home, specialty sizes, to larger sizes for retail, foodservice and wholesale packaging. The standard sizes are available and custom sizes can also be produced according to your packaging needs and product volume.
Do pickle jars come with lids?
Yes. Complete packaging solution can be provided with glass pickle jars and matching lids. Depending on the opening of the jar, sealing capabilities, filling process, and the desired appearance, the lid can be chosen. There are various materials and finishes for both standard and customized pickle packaging projects.
Are wide-mouth pickle jars available?
Yes. There are pickle jars that come in the wide mouth and these are very useful for produce that has whole or large components, like pickles, olives and preserved vegetables. A large opening also allows to fill, remove and clean the jar more easily. Based on your product and filling process, we can recommend a suitable mouth diameter.
What types of lids can I choose?
Various types of lids can be supplied such as metal lids, plastic lids and other compatible lids. The specific design of a jar and its use will dictate the style, finish, color and sealing components of the lid. The sealing performance of the lid and gasket should match the selected glass jar for food products that need specific sealing performance.
Can I customize the jar shape or size?
Yes. Pickle jar glass is available for customization of shape, capacity, size and overall structure. Drawings, dimensions, reference samples, and/or packaging concepts may be submitted for evaluation. If your design calls for a new mold, our team can review your mold development needs prior to production.
Are these jars suitable for fermented foods?
Pickled and fermented food products may be suitable for glass pickle jars, but the suitability of the product depends on the product formula, acidity, fermentation process, filling condition and closure system. The jar/ lid combination(s) should be tested for the application for which it is intended, especially if fermentation will generate pressure in the jar.
Can pickle jars be used for hot-fill or canning?
If hot-fill or canning, some glass pickle jars may be suitable but this is not a given for all glass pickle jars. The suitability of different glasses and different jar designs, thermal conditions, closure systems and processing methods are all factors. Please include your hot fill/canning project and let us know what the temperature of the filling and processing times will be, so we can verify that a jar/lid combination will be suitable.
Can I request samples before bulk production?
Yes. Samples can be taken prior to bulk production to assess jar capacity, size, glass quality, mouth size and shape, lid size and shape, sealing system, and appearance. Samples can also be used to ensure the shape, lid color, logo and other packaging details are correct when making customized pickle jars before mass production. Sample fees & shipping will vary from project to project.
